The advantage of training close to home
The fastest students aren't the most naturally talented. They're the ones who fly often. When the airport is ten minutes away, a lesson is easy to fit before work, after school or on a weekend morning. Frequent lessons mean less time relearning and fewer total hours, and that saves real money. See how frequency affects cost →
Learn to fly over your own neighborhood
Training over the Merrimack Valley means flying over places you know: the river winding through Lowell and Lawrence, the old mill buildings, Lake Cochichewick, and your own street. Familiar landmarks make navigation easier to learn.
Getting here
Lawrence Municipal Airport is on Sutton Street in North Andover, near I-495 and Routes 114 and 125.
- North Andover, Lawrence: 5–10 minutes.
- Andover, Methuen: 10–15 minutes via I-495 or I-93.
- Haverhill, Groveland, Boxford: about 15 minutes.
- Lowell, Tewksbury, Dracut, Chelmsford: 20–25 minutes via I-495.
College and high school students
We're a short drive from Merrimack College, UMass Lowell and Northern Essex Community College. Flying on a student schedule is very doable, since short lessons fit between classes. You can take lessons at any age, fly solo at 16, and earn your private pilot license at 17, which makes the license a strong addition to college and career applications.
Evening lessons
From May through August, the long New England evenings leave plenty of daylight after work. Evening lessons are often the smoothest air of the day, and a great way to make steady progress.
